O que você acha que representa esta foto?Alguma construção dos filmes de James Bond?Uma evidência de uma nave espacial que tenha despencado do céu…(parece a Enterprise…).Na verdade é uma armação em concreto e ferro de U$ 239 milhões de dólares que cobre o exato local onde foram efetuados testes com bombas nucleares no atol de Bikini e Rongelap , no chamado Cactus test.

Intrigued? Just stare at this photo a bit and try to imagine what it might possibly be. I’m thinking… the secret lair of Jame Bond’s nemesis? Better yet… evidence of a crashed spaceship!… (because it looks a lot like the top part of the U.S.S. Enterprise to me). But actually, it’s a $239 million dome that covers the radiocative waste from nuclear explosion tests in the Bikini and Rongelap atolls. “The dome covers the 30-foot deep, 350-foot wide crater created by the May 5, 1958, Cactus test.”

Since World War II almost 2500 nuclear bombs have been detonated, more than 500 of which were detonated in the atmosphere, sending fallout around the globe.
Desde a 2ª Guerra mundial em torno de 2500 bombas nucleares foram detonadas,sendo que mais de 500 destas na atmosfera,enviando seus “resultados” pelo globo.
One difficulty with this map is to show both the number and the magnitude of these explosions. At Bikini Atoll, for example, the United States conducted only 22 tests, but these were some of the largest tests ever performed. Many more tests were performed in the Nevada desert, but each test tended to be smaller in scale. Novaya Zemlya and the Semipalatinsk Test Site had a similar relationship in the USSR.
Uma dificuldade neste mapa é mostrar, ambos, o número e a magnitude destas explosões.No Atol de Bikini, por exemplo,os Estados Unidos conduziram apenas 22 testes,mas estes foram alguns dos maiores já efetuados.Muitos mais testes foram realizados no deserto de Nevada, mas estes sempre com a tendência de ocorrer em uma menosr escala.Novaya Zemlya e Semipalatinsk foram locais onde foram efetuados testes semelhantes porém pela antiga URSS.
